High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a treatment that uses intense sound waves to heat and destroy desmoid tumor tissue. Currently, this technique is not being studied in clinical trials in the United States. Some studies conducted in China have shown promising results as a potential alternative treatment for desmoid tumors. Since HIFU is not currently available in clinical trials in the US, Memorial Sloan Kettering does not offer this treatment. For treatment options, it's recommended to work with desmoid tumor specialists (also known as sarcoma specialists) to discuss available treatments like active surveillance, medical therapy, or other approved approaches that best suit your situation.
